Pilates

AcupuncturePilates is an exercise method, designed to elongate, strengthen and restore the body to balance. Based upon an anatomical understanding of the body's muscular and skeletal systems, we can create a comprehensive exercise programme for every client. Classes will focus on specific areas individually, while using exercises that integrate the whole body to re-educate and restore it to optimum muscular and skeletal function.

It is this holistic approach that sets Pilates apart from many other forms of exercise. Many Osteopaths, Physiotherapists and General Practitioners recommend Pilates as one of the safest forms of exercise today. Pilates can be beneficial for everyone, regardless of age and fitness level.

Our consultant, Alys Bailey, teaches Pilates in Bromley every week. It’s normally in small groups, between 8-10 people but one to one sessions are also available. Many of our patients, particularly those suffering with acute low back pain, have felt significant pain relief as well as improved mobility from attending regular Pilates sessions. One of the main reasons for this is that it builds up the core muscles, which are essential to control movement of the lumbar spine. Weakness of them leads to the development of poor posture and related low back, shoulder or foot problems.

Pilates is an invigorating form of exercise for your mind and body that can improve your strength, flexibility and overall mobility. It helps restore your body to balance. As a result, your posture will change and you will move more efficiently. You will achieve a strong core, develop longer, leaner muscles, and improve your overall sense of well-being. And, if you’re a sports enthusiast, Pilates can even help to improve your game.

Group Sessions are held every Tuesday (6-7pm & 7-8pm) in Beckenham, Thursday (6.45pm-7.45pm) and Saturday (10am-11am) in Bromley. Each session costs £8 for the hour (8-10 max People in a group). You also have the option of paying in advance for a block of 7 sessions and this will give you the eighth lesson free.

We can provide individual sessions on most weekdays. Instruction and supervision is available onsite and recommended prior to joining a group Pilates class - particularly if you have a history of back problems.
